“Shelter Dogs” Exhibition at the New Rochelle Public Library

Great news! The “Shelter Dogs” exhibition featuring my photographs of dogs from the New Rochelle Humane Society is now on view in the New Rochelle Public Library from February 10, 2012 to March 4, 2012.

It is great to see “Shelter Dogs” becoming a travelling exhibition, promoting animal adoption and fighting common misconceptions about shelter animals across Westchester County. We would like to bring “Shelter Dogs” to all 17 towns that the New Rochelle Humane Society serves. Stay tuned to see if “Shelter Dogs” will visit your town!

The New Rochelle Public Library is located at 1 Library Plaza, New Rochelle, NY 10801. For hours of operation and more information about the library please click here.

Lonely Hearts at the New Rochelle Humane Society

In honor of Valentine’s day, the New Rochelle Humane Society is offering a 50% discount on adoption fee of pets who has been at the shelter for four months or more. Often overlooked because of their appearance, age, breed or personality, these pets just might be the perfect match for you. I was very lucky to meet and photograph a few of the lonely hearts candidates last week.

MUFFIN was found wandering the streets of Bronxville. Although she was micro-chipped and the shelter contacted her owner, the owner never called them back. Muffin is a sweet and friendly cat who LOVES to play.

ANNE MAY is one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet – gentle, affectionate and great with other dogs! Anne May was bred several times, then carelessly abandoned by her owner.

ARIEL was rescued from the streets of New Rochelle. She is quiet, thoughtful, lady like cat with beautiful, kitten-soft, multi-colored coat.

BETTY WHITE is a girl brimming with personality. She has a very happy disposition despite being abandoned by her family.

NUZZLE was adopted a few days after his photo shoot!!! But I decided to share his photos with you. He is just such a great, beautiful and friendly cat. I fell in love with him at the first sight.

PINKY has been at the shelter for over a year now. She was adopted from the shelter when she was four months old by someone who made many promises to take her to the park for exercise, participate in training classes and love her forever. Unfortunately, none of these promises were kept. This loving, affectionate girl is so depressed without a family of her own. While she has been at the shelter, volunteers have taught her 7 different tricks! Rollover, high five, moonwalk, spin and shake, just to name a few.

“SHELTER DOGS” Exhibition at the Mamaroneck Public Library

I am very excited to share with you that the photographs of the dogs from the New Rochelle Humane Society that I have taken are being exhibited in the beautifully renovated Mamaroneck Public Library from December 19, 2011 to January 17, 2012.

We hope that The “Shelter Dogs” exhibition will help us to promote animal adoption and correct common misconceptions about shelter dogs by portraying them for who they really are: loving, playful companions in search of a home.

The photographs are on display in the gallery space of the library located on the ground level. The Mamaroneck Public Library is located at 136 Prospect Avenue, Mamaroneck NY 10543. For hours of operation and more information about the library please click here.

Please make sure to stop by and take a look!

Sneak Peek – Holidays Photographs at the New Rochelle Humane Society

by Klara Hanincova

Thank you so much to all of you who brought your pets to the New Rochelle Humane Society last Sunday for holiday portraits. While it can be very challenging to photograph animals during the fundraising events due to short time intervals that I get to spend with each animal or family, it is also a lot of fun. If you did not make it this year, make sure to stop by next year. See you then!!!….:)

Don’t Miss on Holiday Pet Portraits at the New Rochelle Humane Society this Sunday, Nov 13th

by Klara Hanincova

If you are thinking of getting your pet’s holiday photos taken this year then do not think any more and stop by the New Rochelle Humane Society on Sunday, November 13th . I will be taking holiday photos from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Your $20 session fee will include an approximately 10 minute mini session and a 5×7 print of your choice. Additional prints and card options will also be available for purchase. Portraits will be taken on a first come, first served basis. What is really great is that every penny you spend will go directly to those who need it the most – the shelter animals. Oh, before I forget, Santa Claus will be there as well. Here are a few photographs from last year. Enjoy and see you soon!!!…:)

Rumble the Puppy Bug

by Klara Hanincova

This morning I overheard two lady bugs that were polishing their dots in our garden talking about this strange but very cute bug that they saw as they were flying over the New Rochelle Humane Society the other day. Little they knew that the strange bug was little Rumble trying on his puppy bug Halloween costume….:)

If you are looking for a cute and a little silly puppy bug then do not look any further. Rumble is your bug!!!! ….:))
